41 MSI Laptops Now Windows 7 Certified – Including X-Slim and Wind Netbook
MSI just announced that quite a few of the company’s notebooks (including several netbooks) are now certified to run Microsoft’s new OS.
It’s hardly surprising that the MSI’s mainstream and gaming laptops have been certified for Windows 7, considering that the new version is considerably less resource-intensive than Windows Vista. Somewhat more interesting to note is that the ultrathin MacBook Air clones, the X-Slim series have been granted full privileges to run the 7. The same goes for the MSI Wind – at least the Wind12 U200, the 12″ netbook using the CULV (low-voltage) platform from Intel.
The MSI X-Slim X340 ultraportable/netbook is definitely among the more successful (and outrageous) attempts at cloning the MacBook Air. Unfortunately it suffers from relatively low-end hardware. It merely matches standard netbook specs, and it won’t run Vista very well. Its hardware in combination with a rather hefty price tag has made it a tough sell.
However, with Windows 7 installed it should be able to offer quite a fluid and modern experience in spite of its mediocre hardware. All while looking very classy I might add.
